30th - At Clevedon there were 2 Golden Plover, c300 Dunlin/Ringed Plover, a Turnstone, a Bar-headed Goose flew low over Wains Hill and a Yellow Wagtail were seen.
27th - At Clevedon there were 20+ Teal, 16 Little Egrets, 18 Oystercatchers, 130 Ringed Plover, 3 juvenile Knot, 2 Sanderling, 65 Dunlin, 2 Whimbrel, 125 Curlew, 145 Redshank (This is the best August count for 15 years!), 2 Greenshank, 8 Common Sandpipers, 3+ Turnstone, 50+ Swallow, 1+ Yellow Wagtail, 2 Wheatears and 2 Ravens.
26th - There were 3 juvenile Med Gulls at Portishead Boating Lake today (thank to Bill Dixon for the pic). At Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve there were 85 Ringed Plover, c40 Dunlin, 8 Knot, 7 Lapwing, 7 Little Grebes. 5 Tufted Ducks, 4 Pochard, 3 GBB Gulls, 23 Curlew, 4 Green Sandpipers, 4 Snipe, a Greenshank and best of all a male Redstart.
24th - At Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve there was a Whinchat, 2 Little Egrets, a Barn Owl, c40 Redshank and 35 Teal. At Clevedon there were 11 Little Egrets, a Peregrine, 26 Oystercatchers, 72 Ringed Plover, 16 Dunlin, 60+ Curlew, 48 Redshank, 2 Greenshanks, 8 Common Sandpiper, 3 Turnstones, 2 Yellow Wagtails, 4 White Wagtails and 5 Wheatears.
23rd - Portishead Boating Lake continues to be a reliable spot to see Med Gull with 2 adults and 3 Juveniles there this afternoon. At Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve there were c90 Ringed Plover, c35 Dunlin, a Bar-tailed Godwit, 29 Curlew, 2 Green Sandpipers, a Snipe, a Peregrine and a female Sparrowhawk.
21st - Today at Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve there were 2 Tufted Ducks, 4 Pochard, 3 snipe and 3 green sandpipers. The Clevedon Yeo had 6 Teal, 10 Little Egrets, 7 Oystercatchers, 45 Ringed Plover, a Lapwing, 20+ Dunlin, 3 Whimbrel, 110 Curlew, 55 Redshank, a Greenshank, 7 Common Sandpiper, 6 Turnstone, 5 Wheatears (poor numbers so far this autumn) and 30+ Linnet. An adult and Juvenile Med Gull were at Portishead Boating Lake.
20th - At Clevedon today there was a Black Tailed Godwit, a Greenshank, 3 Common Sandpipers, 11 Teal and 2 Wheatears.
19th - Today at Portbury Wharf there were 100 Ringed Plover, 2 Knot, 25 Dunlin, 33 Curlew, 25 Teal, a Grey Wagtail, a Barn Owl, a Hobby and 3 Green Sandpipers.
18th - At Clevedon today there were 10 Little Egrets, 50 Ringed Plover, 20 Dunlin, 5 Turnstone, a Sanderling, 4 Wheatears, 2 Whinchats and at least 8 Clouded Yellow butterflies. At Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve there were 23 Teal, 4 Tufted Ducks, 4 Pochard, 3 Green Sandpipers, a Kingfisher and 8 Little Grebes.
16th - Much the same at Clevedon with c65 Ringed Plover/Dunlin, 3 Turnstones, a Greenshank, 3 Wheatear, a juvenile Whinchat and 7 Little Egrets.
15th - At Clevedon today there were c50 Ringed Plover/Dunlin, 10 Turnstones, a Knot, a Wheatear and 14 Little Egrets.
13th - At the Clevedon Yeo today there were 4 Teal, 8 Little Egrets, a Peregrine, 18 Oystercatchers, 16 Ringed Plover, 70 Dunlin, 4 Whimbrel, 90+ Curlew, 2 Spotted Redshank, 25+ Redshank, 3 Greenshank, 3/4 Common Sandpipers, 3 Turnstones, 520 Black-headed Gulls, 2 Great Bk-backed Gulls and a Wheatear.
12th - There was an Adult med Gull, 23 Curlew and 33 Ringed Plover at Portbury Wharf and a juvenile Med Gull at Portishead Boating Lake.
11th - At Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve there were 7 Pochard, 2 Tufted Ducks, 3 Green Sandpipers, 45 Coot and 7 Little Grebes.
10th - A little more variety at Clevedon today with 10 Little Egrets, 1 Peregrine, 24 Oystercatchers, 35 Ringer Plover, 1 Grey Plover, 85 Dunlin, 3+ Whimbrel, 160 Curlew, 1 Spotted Redshank (Yeo Bank Farm, is this the regular over-wintering bird back early?), 42 Common Redshank, 4 Greenshank, 2 Green Sandpipers, 3 Common Sandpipers, 3 Turnstone and 8 Stock Dove.
8th - At Clevedon today there were c5 Greenshank, a Green Sandpiper, a Turnstone, 3 Dunlin and 7 Ringed Plover.
7th - A juvenile male Cuckoo was seen at Clevedon today along with 2 Common Sandpipers and a Greenshank. Thanks to Martin Parsons for the picture of the Clouded Yellow Butterfly which was photographed at Clevedon.
