31st - The final day of the year and the last year tick with a Richards Pipit flushed from Clapton Moor, a Mandarin was also seen here.  Happy New Year.

30th - At the Clevedon-Yeo today there were 2 Brent Goose (dark phase) and 1 finely marked pale phase individual, 110 Wigeon, 4 Little Egrets, a Water Rail at Wains Hill, 14 Oystercatchers, 32 Grey Plover, 180 Lapwing, 1100, Dunlin, 4 Jack Snipe, 18 Commo Snipe, c40 Curlew, 100+ Redshank, c15 Turnstones and a Short-eared Owl.  The Ring-necked Duck and Goldenye remained at Portbury Wharf along with 22 Pochard (an influx), 11 Gadwall, c6 Shoveler, c60 Wigeon, 24 Tufted Ducks, c1500 Dunlin, 7 Snipe, c30 Redshank, a Spotted Redshank, 2 Stonechats,  7 Reed Buntings, a Water Rail, a Cettis Warbler and a Green Woodpecker.

28th - Little change at Clevedon with c10 Shelduck, 120 Wigeon, 75 Teal, a Peregrine, 2 Little Egrets, 20 Oystercatchers, 8 Ringed Plover, 28 Grey Plover, 280 Lapwing, 950 Dunlin, 4 Common Snipe, 110 Curlew, a Spotted Redshank, 170 Redshank and 28 Turnstones.

26th - Two Brent Geese were seen at Blackstone rocks, Clevedon.

24th - Today at the Clevedon-Yeo there were 6 Little Egrets, a male Peregrine, 4 Oystercatchers, 5 Ringed Plover, 28 Grey Plover, 140 Lapwing, 900 Dunlin, 90+ Curlew, 80 Redshank, 22 Turnstones, a GBB Gull, a Short-eared Owl (near Kenn mouth) and a Stonechat.

21st - In poor visibility the only birds of note seen at Portbury Wharf was the Ring-necked Duck and 2 Jack Snipe.

20th - A bitterly cold day with temperatures not getting above freezing.  At Portbury Wharf the Ring-necked Ducks was still present along with a female Scaup, a female Goldeneye, 25 Gadwall, 2 Pochard, 12 Tufted Ducks, 6 Shoveler, 6 Little Grebes, a Water Pipit, 3 Reed Buntings, 3 Bullfinch, 2 Green Woodpeckers and a Mistle Thrush.

19th - Two drake Goosanders were on the Blind-Yeo at Clevedon.

18th - At the Clevedon-Yeo a Spotted Redshank was seen along with c300 Dunlin, c1000 Lapwing, 2 Peregrines and c20 Skylark. 

16th - Today at the Clevedon-Yeo there was a Brent Goose (dark phase), 170 Wigeon, 3 Little Egrets, 18  Oystercatcher, c30 Lapwing, 900 Dunlin, 2 Jack Snipe (Wain's Hill marsh), 3+ Snipe, c50 Curlew, 110 Redshank, a Green Sandpiper, 16 Turnstone, a GBB Gull, a Kingfisher and a Stonechat.  The Ring-Necked Duck again reported from Portbury Wharf and 4 Brent Geese and a Spotted Redshank were also seen.  And because it's nearly Christmas here is a picture of a Robin!

15th - The Ring-necked Duck remained at Portbury Wharf along with the Goldeneye, 6 Stonechats, c11 Shoveler, c10 Gadwall, 21 Tufted Ducks, 9 Pochard, 3 Water Rails, c12 Snipe, one or two Jack Snipe and c10 Bullfinch were also present.  On the Blind Yeo at Clevedon a Little Grebe, a Stonechat and a Grey Wagtail were seen.

13th - Today at Portbury Wharf the Ring-necked Duck was still present along with a Goldeneye, 20 Siskins, 2 Peregrines and plenty of Bullfinch in the lane down to the reserve.  Three Purple Sandpipers were present at Battery Point.

10th - Today at the Clevedon Yeo there were c40 Shelduck, 80+ Wigeon, 35+ Teal, a Little Grebe, 6 Little Egrets, 27 Oystercatchers, c12 Ringer Plover, 40+ Lapwing, 1150+ Dunlin, a Jack Snipe (at Yeo mouth), 5+ Common Snipe, 125 Curlew, 115 Redshank, 15+ Turnstones, a GBB Gull, 2 Ravens, a Stonechat and a Cetti's Warbler (at Blake's pool).
 

9th - Little to report today.  Two Pochards and a Little Grebe were on Portishead Boating Lake.
 
 
8th - Another day of poor weather with driving rain and strong winds.  A Great Skua was seen from Portishead and Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve has a female Scaup and Goldeneye present.
 
7th - A Leach's Petrel was seen from Portishead today in windy conditions.
 
4th - Four Purple Sandpipers were at Battery Point today.
 
2nd - Stormy conditions today. Seawatching from Ladye Bay was a little disappointing with just a Great Skua and c25 Kittiwakes of note.  Three Purple Sandpipers were at Battery Point.
 
 
1st - At Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve today there was a Scaup, a Goldeneye, the Ring-necked Duck, 21 Gadwall, 20 Tufted, 10 Pochard. On the foreshore there was a Spotted Redshank, c600 Dunlin, 100 Lapwing, Wigeon, Teal and 7 Reed buntings. Two stonechats where in Wharf lane.  Two Ravens and 4 Buzzards were near Black Rock Quarry, Portishead.
