26th - A Little Stint and a probable Purple
Sandpiper were at Clevedon today along with 50 Shelduck, 80 Wigeon, 90 Teal, 8
Little Egrets, 24 Oystercatchers, 5 Ringed Plover, a Golden Plover, 7 Grey
Plover, zero Lapwing!!, 750 Dunlin, 70 Curlew, 140 Redshank, 29 Turnstones and a
GBB Gull.
22nd - At the Clevedon-Yeo today there were 30+
Shelduck, 110 Wigeon, 50 Teal, a Little Egret, 4 Oystercatcher, 20 Lapwing (have
the large numbers now gone?), 400 Dunlin, 6 Snipe, 80 Curlew, a Spotted
Redshank, 160 Redshank, 20 Turnstones, 3 Common Gulls and a GBB Gull.
Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve was quiet with
a single female Goldeneye, 20
Shoveler, 20 Tufted Duck, 2 Pochard, 10 Gadwall and 2 Teal amongst the usual.
21st - A Ring-necked Parakeet was seen flying
over Clevedon today, also just inland from the coast here there were 8 Little
Egrets. A Raven was over Clevedon court wood.
15th - A Med Gull was in Portishead Marina,
thanks to Dave Horlick for the picture. At Clevedon there were c1000
Lapwing, 24 Oystercatchers, c100 Curlew, c90 Redshank, 15 Grey Plover, c1200
Dunlin, 16 Turnstones, a Snipe, 10 Skylarks, 110 Wigeon, 50 Shelduck, a Rock
Pipit, 2 Little Egrets and a Raven. A Goosander was on the Blind-Yeo.
Brighter weather helped Buzzards with soaring and there were at least 9 in the
Gordano Valley. A Portishead garden enjoyed a charm of 70 Goldfinch.
14th - On the coast at Clevedon there was a Water
Pipit, 2 Shoveler, 5 Ringed Plover, 30 Grey Plover, 5 Knot, 20 Turnstones and a
Raven. Four Goosander were on the blind-yeo and a Lesser Redpoll was at
the Perfect Bite pools. A probable Goshawk is currently being debated, pic
looks good for it! - Update Goshawk added to year list.
11th - A count at Clevedon today produced 60
Shelduck, 40 Wigeon, 110 Teal, 10 Goosander, 2 Little Egrets, 21 Oystercatchers,
8 Ringed Plover, 52 Grey Plover, 950 Lapwing, 21 Knot, 10+ Snipe, 90 Curlew, a
Spotted Redshank, 240 Redshank, 28 Turnstones, a GBB Gull, 4 Rock Pipits, a
Stonechat and a Raven.
8th - At the Clevedon-Yeo today there were 36
Canada Goose, 90 Wigeon, 110 Teal, 13 Goosander (this could be a record count?),
3 Golden Plover (30 were seen at Dowlais farm by a different observer), 600+
Lapwing, 800 Dunlin, 30 Snipe, 60 Curlew, 120+ Redshank, a Spotted Redshank, 5
Turnstones, 8+ Common Gulls, 35+ Skylarks and a Raven. A walk from
Portishead Lake grounds to the docks as part of a BTO survey turned up 4 Pochard
and the usual common bits and pieces including these 2 Rock Pipits on the dock
wall, I wonder what they are looking at?

7th - At Clevedon today there was a female
Merlin, 50 Golden Plover, 2 Goosanders and a Little Owl. A Nuthatch and a
Marsh Tit were in the Gordano Valley.

6th - It was quite snowy!
1st - A very cold visit to Clevedon failed to
produce the excitement of yesterday. There were 90+ Shelduck, 160 Wigeon,
130 Teal, a Goosander on the Blind Yeo and another seen on the sea, Kestrel
(which was seen to kill a Turnstone!), 7 Little Egrets, 18 Oystercatchers, 32
Grey Plover, the long-staying Purple Sandpiper, c500 Lapwing, 650 Dunlin, 2 Jack
Snipe, 6 Snipe, 130 Curlew, Spotted Redshank, 160 Redshank, 24 Turnstones, 3
Ringed Plover, 16 Common Gulls and a Stonechat. After much debate it was
decided the Pipit pictured below was a Rock Pipit. Two Lesser Redpoll were
seen to visit a feeder near east wood, Portishead this morning.
