31st - The month ends with much of the same from Clevedon with 24 Shoveler, c30 Teal, c400 Dunlin and a Merlin.

30th - The Ring-necked Parakeet was again seen in the area around the allotments at Wains Hill today.  At the Clevedon-Yeo there were 90+ Shelduck, 140+ Wigeon 140+, 50+ Teal, Pintail, 28 Shoveler (a high count), 4 Little Egret, 44 Oystercatchers, 9 Ringed Plover, 20+ Grey Plover, 70 Lapwing, 420 Dunlin, 110 Curlew, Spotted Redshank, 90+ Redshank and 28 Turnstones. 

29th - A visit to the Clevedon-Yeo on a very cold morning produced 2 Little Egrets, c100 Shelduck, 14 Shoveler, 10 Oystercatchers, 3 Grey Plover, c100 Dunlin, 2 Turnstone, Peregrine, Raven, 2 Rock Pipits, 4 Stonechat and 2 Mistle Thrush. There were 2 Little Grebes, a Goosander and 30 Redwing and 70 Fieldfare in the area around the Blind-Yeo.  Three Redpoll were at the Perfect Bite pools.

28th - At the Clevedon-Yeo today there were 300 Dunlin, 7 Ringed Plover, 10 Shoveler, juvenile Peregrine, a Water Pipit with 5 Rock Pipits.  At the Perfect Bite pools there was a Lesser Redpoll and a Treecreeper

26th - It was quiet at both Portbury Wharf and Weston Moor.  There were 12 Wigeon at Portbury and 18 Fieldfare and 85 Teal at Weston Moor.

25th - At the Clevedon-Yeo today there were c900 Dunlin, 8 Shoveler, 2 Peregrines and 5 Skylarks.

24th - The Ring-necked Parakeet was seen today at the allotments near St. Andrews Church, Clevedon (nr Wains Hill).  Four Goosander were on the blind Yeo.

23rd - Thin pickings at the Clevedon-Yeo today with just 8 Shoveler, a Raven, 17 Grey Plover and c50 Dunlin reported.  Lets hope the cold snap brings in some goodies!

22nd - At the Clevedon-Yeo today there were 17 Canada Goose, 70 Shelduck, 110 Wigeon, 70 Teal, 1 Little Egret, 10+ Oystercatcher, 2 Golden Plover, 18 Grey Plover, 110 Lapwing, 650 Dunlin, 16 Snipe, 2 Jack Snipe, 60+ Curlew, Spotted Redshank, 100+ Redshank, 8+ Turnstone, at least 30 Skylark and 3 Stonechats.

19th - At the Clevedon-Yeo today there was the predictable mix with 60+ Shelduck, 140+ Wigeon, 70+Teal, 1 Little Egret, 17 Oystercatchers, 36 Grey Plover, 170 Lapwing, 320+ Dunlin, 60+ Curlew, Spotted Redshank, 130+Redshank and 18 Turnstone.

17th - At Weston Moor today there were 73 Snipe, 6 Jack Snipe, 40 Fieldfare and 17 Redwing.  Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve was quiet apart from a Kingfisher and a Waterail.

15th - At the Clevedon Yeo today there were 3 or 4 Little Egrets, 60 Wigeon, 70+Teal, 65 Shelduck, 18 Oystercatchers, 10 Ringed Plover, 42
Grey Plover, 500+ Lapwing, 180+ Dunlin, 140 Curlew, 140 Redshank, 20 Turnstone, 4 Common Snipe, 2 GBB Gulls and 2 Stonechats.  One of the possibly two Ring-necked Parakeets was found on Walton Common.  At Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve there were 3 Little Grebes, 13 Tufted Ducks, 3 Shoveler, 3 Mistle Thrush, 1 Kingfisher and 5 Reed Buntings.

14th - A Yellowhammer was seen on the coast road near Portishead today, a good patch record for this species.  Seven Pochard and a Little Grebe were on Portishead boating lake.  At Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve there were 5 Shoveler, 21 Snipe, 2 Jack Snipe, 93 Wigeon, 37 Skylark, Water Rail, 2 Grey Wagtail and 13 Reed Buntings.  A Barn Owl was seen at Blakes Pools.

12th - The Ring-necked Parakeet was seen near St Andrews Church allotments in Clevedon this afternoon.  A Little Grebe and a Grey Wagtail were on the Blind Yeo.  A Jack Snipe and two Common Snipe were in Wains Hill Marsh.  At Weston Moor there were 2 Stonechats, 2 Buzzards, 2 Reed Buntings and 2 Mistle Thrush.   Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve held c70 Dunlin, 2 Water Rails, 15 Skylark, 11 Snipe, 2 Shoveler, 13 Tufted Ducks and 40 Linnet.

 
 
 
10th - Three Purple Sandpipers reported from Battery Point.
 
9th - At Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve there were 3 Little Grebes, 2 Shoveler, 9 Tufted Ducks, 1 Kingfisher and a Sparrowhawk.
 
8th - A cold and increasingly damp and windy day made any birdwatching unpleasant.  Two Purple Sandpipers were at Battery Point and a Green Woodpecker was also seen here.  On Portishead Boating Lake there were 3 Pochard.  A Water Pipit and a Spotted Redshank were at the Clevedon-Yeo
 
7th - At the Clevedon-Yeo today there was a female Merlin, Spotted Redshank, c800 Dunlin, 10 Turnstone, 5 Golden Plover, 25 Grey Plover and a least 800 Lapwing.  Wains Hill marsh held 4 Jack Snipe and 2 Common Snipe.  Three Purple Sandpipers remain at Battery Point.
 
6th - At Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve there were 3 Little Grebes, 9 Tufted Ducks a Pochard and 8 Shoveler.  Three Purple Sandpipers remained at Battery Point.
 
5th - The Purple Sandpipers at Battery Point increased to 3 today.  At Weston Moor there were 81 Snipe, Stonechat, 45 Fieldfare and a Little Grebe.
 
4th - Two Purple Sandpipers were at Battery Point, Portishead this morning, a visit around high tide is essential to see these birds.   Look at the rocks around the lighthouse.  Three Woodcock were in the Gordano Valley this evening.
 
2nd - At the Clevedon-Yeo today the following were seen; 2 Little Egrets, 30 Oystercatchers, 3 Ringed Plover, 1 Golden Plover, 44 Grey Plover, 450+ Lapwing, 1+ Knot, 700+, 6+ Snipe, 50+ Curlew, Spotted Redshank, 100+ Redshank, 28 Turnstones, Tawny Owl (calling at about sunrise) and 20 Linnet.  The Ring-necked parakeet was seen again near the Blind-Yeo.  A Jack Snipe and 2 Shoveler were in the marsh at Wains Hill.  Weston Moor held a Woodcock and 2 Water Rails.
 
1st - Happy New Year!   Here we go again...  The traditional New Years Day thrash around the patch produced a respectable 83 species today, with the highlights being; c1000 Lapwing, 4 Knot, Ringed Plover, Peregrine, Little Egret and 3 Water Pipits at the Clevedon-Yeo.  A Little Owl and a Redpoll were at Plantation Lakes.  A Chiffchaff and a Blackcap were in Clevedon and two Goosander were on the Blind Yeo.  Portishead Boating lake had a Med Gull in amongst all the Black-headed Gulls and a few Pochard were there.  At Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve the was a Water Rail and a  Kingfisher.
