28th - Two Great Crested Grebes were seen from Ladye Bay today.  c500 - 1000 Starlings are roosting at Portbury Wharf and for the last couple of nights a Peregrine has tried to get it supper there!  The Ring-necked duck is reported from here most days.
 
27th - For once a nice sunny day at the weekend!  A slog up and down the coast at Clevedon produced 4 Snipe, c55 Redshank, 10 Lapwing, 35 Turnstones, 14 Ringed Plover, 19 Oystercatchers, c150 Curlew, c2000 Dunlin, a Knot, 33 Grey Plover, a Golden Plover, c90 Shelduck, c20 Widgeon, 6 Teal, a Merlin, 2 Stonechats, 3 Rock Pipits, a Little Egret and a GBB Gull.
 
 
 
 
25th - On the coast at Clevedon there were c600 Dunlin, 4 Ringed Plover, a Golden Plover and c30 Redshank.  Four Siskins flew over the Perfect Bite Pools.
 
20th - A dreary wet day!  Now 36 (I only found 32!) Little Egrets could be located at Clevedon this morning.  A Grey Wagtail and a Chiffchaff were seen at the farm near the Hand Stadium, Clevedon.  The drake Mandarin (last seen at New Year) was found in some flooded fields near the Perfect Bite Cafe.
 

 
19th - A Nuthatch and a Treecreeper were seen at Walton Common today and 2 Chiffchaffs were at a farm near the Hand Stadium, Clevedon.  The Little Egret flock at Clevedon increased to an impressive 34 (possibly 39) individuals this evening.  600+ Jackdaws were also seen going to roost at Clevedon.
 
16th - No sign of the GW Egret today.  At the Clevedon-Yeo there were c2000+ Dunlin, 1 (possibly 2) Spotted Redshank, a male Merlin and the usual other Waders and Ducks.  A Kingfisher was at the Perfect Bite Pools.
 
15th - A report of a Great White Egret at Kingston Seymour today, seen from the M5 apparently!
 
13th - The now annual influx of Little Egrets into the Clevedon area around the Perfect Bite Pools has happened with 31 seen in the fields today, but alas no Cattle Egret.  A Barn Owl was at Weston Moor.
 
12th - No sign of the Ring-necked duck today at Portbury Wharf, there were 17 Gadwall, 16 Shoveler, 9 Tufted Ducks, a female Goldeneye, 3 Pochard, 320 Teal, a Spotted Redshank, c40 Redshank, c700 Dunlin, 2 Little Grebes, 2 Mistle Thrush, 2 Water Rails, 4 Stonechats and a Little Owl.  A Chiffchaff was seen near the Hand Stadium, Clevedon.  On the coast at Clevedon there were c2000 Dunlin, 20 Grey Plover and 25 Turnstones.
 
10th - The resident Spotted Redshank was seen at the Yeo, Clevedon today, however there was little else to report.  Nothing was seen during a seawatch from Ladye Bay.
 
9th - A Short-eared Owl was seen at the Clevedon-Yeo.
 
8th - Four Woodcock were seen at dusk at Weston Moor today.
 
6th - A Kingfisher was at the Perfect Bite pools, 2 Brambling at Clapton Moor (but no sign of the Mandarin) and reports of a 'strange' Egret at Clevedon (Great White?) check those Little Egret flocks!
 
5th - At Clapton Moor today there were a good range of raptors with 2 Peregrines, 2 Sparrowhawks, 10+ Buzzards, a Barn Owl and a Raven.  Seven Ringed Plover were at the Clevedon Yeo.
 
4th - Three Purple Sandpipers reported from Battery Point today.  Ringed-neck duck still at Portbury.
 
3rd - A single Purple Sandpiper was seen at Battery Point, Portishead.  At Portbury Wharf the Ring-neck duck was present along with 10 Bullfinch.
 
1st - Happy New Year!  As is tradition a good thrash of the patch was completed today.  Highlights included; A drake Mandarin at Clapton Moor, Two Marsh Tits in the Gordano Valley, Ring-necked Duck, Goldeneye, Brambling and a Water Pipit at Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve, Short-eared Owl, Bar-tailed Godwit, c2500 Dunlin, Golden Plover, 3 Jack Snipe, Goosander and a Water Rail at the Clevedon Yeo.  In total 87 species were recorded.
