31st - At Weston Moor this morning there were 4 Reed Warblers, 4
Whitethroats, 2 Reed Buntings, Great Spotted Woodpecker, female Sparrowhawk,
Common Sandpiper, Snipe and a Grey Wagtail. An afternoon visit to
Portbury Wharf produced 85 Curlew, 65 Redshank, 12 Lapwing, 2 Whimbrel, 3
Ringed Plover, 4 Dunlin, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Kingfisher, 2 Kestrel, 3
Green Woodpeckers, 5 Little Grebes, 11
Coot and a mixed flock of tits and warblers (including Garden Warbler,
Blackcap, Whitethroat and Willow Warbler) of note.
25th - At the Clevedon Yeo today there were 3 Little Egrets, 2 Peregrines
one of which had taken a Redshank, 11 Knot, 48 Dunlin, 15 Redshank, 4
Whimbrel, 10 Common Sandpipers, c600 Black-headed Gulls and a Wheatear.
24th - The first significant rain for several weeks largely prevented any
birding today, however a Greenshank and a Whimbrel were seen at Portbury
Wharf and someone has lost a Parrot in Clevedon! A Peregrine and a
Whimbrel were at the mouth of the Clevedon Yeo.
22nd - At Portishead today a second summer Med Gull was seen along with 16
Redshank and 3 Curlew. A Tawny Owl was heard in East Wood.
21st - At the Clevedon Yeo this morning there were 11 Little Egrets, Mute
Swan with brood of 5 (quite young, a late brood), 11 Canada Goose,
Peregrine, 18 Oystercatchers, 3 Lapwing, adult Little Stint (beginning
to moult), 5+ Dunlin, 4 Whimbrel, 160 Curlew, 14 Redshank, Greenshank, 2
Common Sandpipers, Turnstone, Wheatear and 30+ Linnet.
19th - More Manx Shearwaters this evening from Ladye Bay with 77 seen going
up and 40 coming back down, also seen were c24 Dunlin and a Curlew.
18th - Seawatching from Ladye Bay today produced a 4 Manx Shearwaters going
up river and 3 coming back down again in around two hours this
evening.
17th - This morning at Portbury Wharf there were 7 Little Grebes (including
4 chicks, see pic. below), 6 Lapwings, 6 Tufted Ducks, Buzzard, female
Sparrowhawk, 4 Canada Geese (2 youngsters), 3 juvenile Pied Wagtails and two
Great Spotted Woodpeckers. At the Clevedon Yeo there were 4 Little
Egrets, Shelduck - two new broods of 3 (a few days old) and of 6 (very new),
3 Peregrines ( 2 Juveniles), 6 Oystercatchers, 3 Lapwing, 50+ Curlew, 8+
Redshank, Greenshank, 4 Common Sandpipers, Turnstone, 450 Black-headed
Gulls, Wheatear and c40 Linnets.
15th - Little change at Clevedon today with 20 Dunlin, 63 Curlew, 4 Little
Egrets, c600 Black-headed gulls, 3 broods of Shelducks (20 chicks) and a
Sparrowhawk feeding young.
13th - At Clevedon there were 10 Dunlin, 9 Little Egrets, c300 Black-headed
Gulls, Peregrine and a female Stonechat.
12th - A Siskin flew over Portishead today.
10th - At the Clevedon-Yeo this morning a juvenile Tawny Pipit was observed
for a couple of minutes in the field on the left at the end of Channel View
Farm, regretfully it flew off and could not be re-located. Also seen
were 7 Little Egrets, 5 Grey Herons, 3 Cormorant 3, Shelduck broods
7+7+8+1(very small), 12+ Oystercatchers, Lapwing, 110+ Curlew, 2+ Redshank,
1 Greenshank at Yeo Bank Farm, 1 Green Sandpiper, 3 Common Sand, 300+
Black-Headed Gulls, 1 juvenile Wheatear, 8+ Reed Warblers, 70+ Linnet and a
Reed Bunting. A Little Owl was at Dowlais Farm, Clevedon.
8th - At Portbury Wharf today there were 2 Little Ringed Plovers, 2
Oystercatchers, Common Sandpiper, c20 Curlew, c25 Redshanks, 3 Green
Woodpeckers, 2 Reed Buntings and 4 Little Grebes.
7th - Some excellent news from Clevedon today where 3 juvenile Peregrines
were seen along with 2 adults, what few waders are around beware! Also
seen were 6 Dunlin, 2 Oystercatchers with 2 Chicks, c30 Curlew (including 1
juvenile), 3 Little Egrets and c100 Black-headed gulls.
5th - It really is very quiet, at Clevedon today there were no small waders
and the only birds of note were two Ravens.
2nd - Two adult Little Ringed Plovers and a now flying juvenile were seen at
Portbury Wharf today along with 13 Lapwing.
1st - At Portbury Wharf today a Little Ringed Plover and a Green Sandpiper
were seen.
