28th - A Green Sandpiper was the only bird of note today at Portbury Wharf.   Thanks to P Evans for the photo's below all of which were taken on the patch. 

At least the ducks appear to appreciate the 'art' installed at Portbury Wharf!

26th - Today at (a rather wet!) Clevedon there were c25 Shelduck, 7 Little Egrets, a Peregrine, a Hobby (presumably following all the hirundines passing through), 9 Oystercatchers, 2 Lapwing, c50 Dunlin, 11 Ringed Plover, 11 Turnstones, 3 Black-tailed Godwits, 9 Whimbrel, c50 Curlew, 44 Redshank, 3 Green Sandpipers, 5 Common Sandpipers, a GBB Gull, 2 Wheatears, 4+ Swift and c20 Sand Martins.  Two Ravens flew over the Clerical Medical building.


 

25th - An influx a Oystercatchers at Portbury Wharf with 52 today, also here was a summer plumaged Sanderling, 31 Dunlin, 2 Whimbrel, 70 Curlew, 90 Redshank and 2 adult Med Gulls.

24th - Today at Portbury Wharf there were 3 Oystercatchers, 70 Dunlin, 50 Curlew, a Blackwit, 10 Little Grebes, 6 Gadwall, 9 Tufted ducks, 30 Coot and 4 swifts.

23rd - The Little Ringed Plover was still at Clevedon today along with c30 Shelduck (mostly juvs), 7 Little Egrets, 2 Coot (juvs), 12 Oystercatchers, 210 Dunlin, 4/5 Whimbrel, 90 Curlew, 38 Redshank, a Green Sandpiper, 10 Common Sandpiper, 4 Turnstones, 220+ Bk-headed Gulls, 8+ Swifts, 10+ Pied Wagtails and 75+ Linnet in three flocks.  At Portbury Wharf nature Reserve there were 30 Shelduck (18 juvs), 7 Oystercatchers, 75 Dunlin (an increase), 3 Whimbrel, 60 Curlew, 2 Blackwits (these were inside Royal Portbury Dock), 74 Redshank, a Common Sandpiper, 7 Turnstones and a Med Gull (winter adult).

21st - A Little Ringed Plover was a good find at Dowlais Farm today.

19th - A Great Skua was the lone bird of note on a seawatch from Ladye Bay today.

17th - Today at Portbury Wharf the first Tufted brood of the year was seen with 6 chicks, c25 Swifts came down in the rain, 3 Oystercatchers and 75 Redshank were also seen.

14th - The only birds of note at Portbury Wharf were 2 Sand Martins and a Juvenile Wheatear (the 1st of the autumn on the patch).

12th - Today at a rather blustery Clevedon there were 4 Shelduck (+ 19 juvs), 6 Little Egrets, 4 Oystercatchers, 42 Lapwing, a Whimbrel, 35 Curlew, 4 Dunlin, 28 Redshank, a Green Sandpiper, 8+ Common Sandpiper, 18+ Swift (they will be gone soon), 50 Linnet and 2 GBB Gulls.

10th - Some new birds at Portbury Wharf with 10 Oystercatchers, 7 Black-tailed Godwits, 100 Curlew, 100+ Redshank, and a Kingfisher.  A Black Redstart was inside the Royal Portbury Docks.

9th - Today at Porbury Wharf Nature Reserve there were 100+ Redshank, 8 Dunlin, 4 Whimbrel, 2 Common Sandpipers, an adult Med Gull, c30 Curlew, a Lesser Whitethroat calling and a few Chiffchaffs.

7th - Seawatching from Ladye Bay this morning produced c75 Manx Shearwaters (all in one group), c15 Common Scoter and a Skua sp.

5th - A bit more variety at the Clevedon-Yeo with 8 Shelducks (31 young), 3 Little Egrets, a Sparrowhawk, 7 Oystercatcher, 6 Lapwing, 24 Curlew, 2 Whimbrel (one a juv), 12 Redshank, 11 Common Sandpipers, 240 Black-headed Gulls, a GBB Gull, 4 Swifts and 45+ Linnet.  A trip to Walton Common was quiet on the bird front with only a Garden Warbler and Green and Great-Spotted Woodpecker of note, however there are plenty of Butterflies and Moths on the wing including Silver washed Frit, Ringlet, Small Skippers and 6 Spot Burnet and the wild flowers are looking very good, so well worth a visit.

3rd - Today at Portbury Wharf there were 4 Little Grebes, 9 Tufted Ducks,  4 Oystercatchers, 3 Lapwings, 73 Redshank, 27 Curlew, a Common Sandpiper, 55 Linnets and a Little Owl.
