30th - At Clevedon today there were 11 Little Egrets, 15 Oystercatchers, 7 Black-Wits, 12 Redshank, 5 Dunlin, 11 Whimbrel, a Green Sandpiper, 10+ Common Sandpipers and a Ringed Plover.
27th - Clevedon had a Peregrine, 2 Knot in breeding plumage, 40+ Dunlin, 130 Curlew, 15 Redshank, 13 Common Sandpipers, 2 Turnstone and 5 Ravens.
26th - More signs of Autumn migration today with Sanderling seen at Portbury Wharf and the Clevedon-Yeo, a female juvenile Wheatear was also seen at Clevedon. Also at Portbury there were 23 Curlew, 75 Dunlin and 6 Ringed Plover.
25th - A really good sighting today was an Osprey fishing at the mouth of the Clevedon-Yeo, well done Steve, just reward for slogging down in the heat. Also seen were
23rd - It was quiet on the coast at Clevedon today with 7 Mute Swans, 7 Canada Goose, 15 Shelduck (11 juvs), 5 Little Egrets, 9 Oystercatchers, 2 Lapwing, 55 Dunlin, 9 Whimbrel, 55 Curlew, 3 Redshank, 16 Common Sandpipers, 3 Turnstones and a female Wheatear. At Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve there were c90 Redshank, 15 Dunlin, a Common Sandpiper, 45 Curlew, 3 Tufted Ducks, 2 Green Woodpecker and 2 Ravens.
20th - At Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve there were 2 Common Sandpipers, a female Common Scoter, 3 Blackcaps, 2 Green Woodpeckers and 7 Skylarks.
18th - On another scorching hot day there were 38 Curlew, 15 Dunlin, 2 Ringed Plover, 11 Oystercatchers and a Common Gull at Portbury Wharf.
16th - At Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve this morning there were 2 Little Grebes, 6 Canada Goose, Tufted Duck, 5 Oystercatchers, 4 Redshank, 2 Whimbrel, 5 Curlew, 11 Shelduck with broods of 8 & 9 seen, 2 Reed Buntings and a Great Spotted Woodpecker. At Clevedon there were 2 Peregrines, a Ringed Plover, a Dunlin, a Common Sandpiper and c90 Curlew.
14th - At Clevedon today there was a Common Sandpiper, 3 Dunlin, 3 Ringed Plover, 7 Little Egrets, 7 Oystercatchers, 9 Lapwing, 6 Black-Wits, 90 Curlew and 11 Whimbrel. At Portbury Wharf there were 60 Redshank and 4 Common Sandpipers.
13th - Quiet at Clevedon today with 10 Little Egrets, Shelduck broods of 9, 11 and 2, Peregrine, Oystercatcher, Lapwing (only 7), 2 Dunlin, 3 Black-tailed Godwits (in fine breeding plumage), c80 Curlew, 7 Redshank, 7 Common Sandpipers and 70+ Linnet.
11th - At Clevedon today there were 15 Shelduck with broods of 11, 9 and 3, 18 Oystercatchers, 14 Lapwing, 5 Dunlin, 4 Black-tailed Godwits, 2 Whimbrel, 72 Curlew, 6 Redshank, 1 Green Sandpiper, 14 Common Sandpipers, 260+ Black-headed Gull, 4 ravens and 75+ Linnet.
9th - Strong winds in the Bristol Channel provided the conditions for a good seawatching day today. From Ladye Bay a staggering 8 Storm Petrels were seen over the course of the morning, we usually struggle to get one a year so this number is fantastic, also seen were 325 Manx Shearwater, 25 Gannets and 2 Fulmars. If you use you imagination you will see a Storm Petrel and a Manxie in the pictures below (both taken at a range of c250 - 300m). From Battery Point, Portishead also seen were 5 Storm Petrels along with 8 Manx Shearwaters, Gannet, Fulmar and 2 presumed Guillemots.
