27th - At Portbury Wharf today there was a Kingfisher, 1 Common Sandpiper, 7- Redshank, a Little Owl, a Little Grebe (with 2 chicks) and an escaped Black-headed Weaver. 56 Curlew were inside the Royal Portbury Docks. A Red Kite and a Hobby were seen in the Gordano valley
23rd - Redshank numbers at Portbury Wharf increased to 60 today along with a Green Sandpiper, 3 Shoveler, a Barn Owl and a Little Owl. So some new birds, autumn is on it's way!
22nd - Today at Portbury Wharf nature reserve there were 33 Redshank, 3 fly over Whimbrel and a Little Owl.
19th - Sea-watching from Ladye Bay produced 14 Manx Shearwaters.
17th - Another Red Kite sighting with one seen on the coast road at Walton-in-Gordano early this afternoon.
14th - At the Clevedon-Yeo today there were c15 Shelducks (broods of 8 and 13 seen), 2 Curlew, a Whimbrel, 5 Oystercatchers (one juv), 3 Lapwing, 3 Little Egrets, c20 Linnet and a fly over Hobby.
13th - Sitting in a cafe has it rewards with a Red Kite and a Hobby seen over Plantation Lakes Clevedon, also here was a Hairy Dragonfly and the first Beautiful Demoiselle for the patch. This Green Woodpecker was seen on Walton Common, thanks for M Hedges for the pic.
11th - It remains quiet at Clevedon with 10 Shelducks (broods of 12,2,8 and 10), a Little Egret, 6 Oystercatchers, a Ringed Plover, 4 Lapwing, a Whimbrel, 15 Curlew, 2 Redshank, a Cetti's Warbler and 2 Ravens.
7th - A Black Redstart was inside the Royal Portbury Docks today. At the Clevedon-Yeo there were 20+ Shelduck with broods of 2, 13 and 1, 2 Tufted Ducks, 6 Little Egrets, 8 Oystercatchers, 2 Ringed Plover, 6 Lapwing, 3 Whimbrel, 5 Curlew, 4+ Redshank, a Greenshank and 2 Ravens.
4th - An uncommon bird in June!! Two Turtle Doves were seen at the Clevedon Yeo this morning. Also here were c20 Shelduck (+ two broods), 2 Tufted Duck, a Little Egret, 9 Oystercatcher, 4 Ringed Plover, 12 Lapwing, 6 Dunlin, a Bar-tailed Godwit, a Whimbrel, 2+ Redshank, a Greenshank, a Common Gull, 2 GBB Gulls, a Cetti's Warbler, 10+ Reed Warblers, a Sedge Warbler, 2 Whitethroats, 3+ Chiffchaffs and a Reed Bunting. An evening visit to Clevedon produced a Lesser Whitethroat, a Greenshank, 3 Ringed Plovers, 2 Golden Plovers, 2 Hares and 3 Badgers!
2nd - There are now 2 Great Crested Grebes at Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve.
1st - Another Red Kite sighting with one reported over the A369 near Portishead. At Portbury Wharf Nature reserve there was a Great Crested Grebe and 2 Lesser Whitethroats but little else. June is often a very quiet month so any sightings/photo's would be very welcome....
