29th - At Portbury Wharf there was a Little Egret ( rare here, this was the
first one the observer has seen in over 20 years of watching the site! ), Little
Grebe with four young and a ringed Ruddy Shelduck (probably the individual that
has been seen at Severnside recently). An evening visit to Clevedon
produced a Ruff, one Dunlin, two Stock Doves, two Little Egrets, c50 Curlew and
c75 Black Headed Gulls. 27th - At the Clevedon Yeo this morning there was a partial summer plumage
male Ruff (see pic below) along with 2 Little Egrets, 25 Curlew, Grey Plover, 6
Redshank, 4 Dunlin, 20 Lapwing, 4 Oystercatchers, 30 Shelduck, 8 Skylark
and a Reed Bunting. A Green Sandpiper and two Common Sandpipers were seen
at the top of the River Yeo. 26th - At Clevedon tonight there were 2 Little Egrets, lots Shelduck,
Oystercatchers, Curlew, Swallows, Swifts, Martins and a Little Owl in apple
trees just past Dowlais farm on lower strode road. At Portbury Wharf there was
one Common Sandpiper, c40 Redshank a brood of 7 Shelduck, a Reed Warbler and
several hundred Swifts. 24th - Seawatching from Clevedon again produced a Storm Petrel and 35 Manx
Shearwaters, 5 Fulmars and a single Gannet. 23rd - A very stormy day for June produced some good sea birds during six
hours of watching from Ladye Bay with a Storm Petrel. 52 Fulmar, 146 Manx
Shearwater, 30 Gannet and one Kittiwake. 19th - At Portbury Wharf there was a bit more variety with two first summer
Med Gulls, 8 Little Grebe, 3 - 5 Ravens, 24 Redshank, 28 Curlew, 6 Reed
Buntings, a pair of Stonechats. Warblers included Willow, Sedge, Lesser
Whitethroat & Reed. 17th - The strong winds overnight made for a productive spell of seawatching
from Ladye Bay between 10 & 11 this morning with 135 Manx Shearwater (the
first of the year), 3 dark phase Arctic Skuas and a Fulmar seen. 15th - Still very little about at Clevedon with 17 Curlew, 16 Lapwing and 3
Raven seen. 9th - At Clevedon today there was a probable Greenland race female/1st summer
Wheatear, 2 Whimbrel, 4 Curlew, 1 Little Egret and a brood of 10 Shelduck. 6th - A lovely warm, still day at Clevedon, but very little in the way of
birds. Six Oystercatchers, 8 Ringed Plover, 11 Dunlin, Bar-Tailed Godwit,
2 Whimbrel, 2 Little Egrets, c45 Shelduck, 3 Buzzards soaring and a flock of c30
Linnets were present. 1st - A little more variety at Clevedon today with 4 Little Egret, 40
Shelduck, 4 Oystercatcher, 12 Dunlin ( 2+ of the probable Arctica race ), 5
Curlew, 8 Redshank, Cetti's Warbler and a remarkable flock of 270 Crows near Yeo
Bank Farm! ( any Hitchcock fans out there?)
