29th - Good coverage of the coastal strip today, but little new to report.  At the Royal Portbury Docks there were 90 Dunlin, 1 Black-tailed Godwit, 70 Curlew, 2 Whimbrel, 120 Redshank, 3 Common Sandpiper and 2 Turnstones.  Portbury Wharf had 90 Redshank,  5 Common Sandpipers, plus the usual cast of waterbirds, 2 Green Woodpecker, a Great Spotted Woodpecker and a Cetti's Warbler.  At the Clevedon Yeo there were 8 Little Egret, 1 ♀ Sparrowhawk, 6 Oystercatcher, 9 Ringed Plover, 18 Dunlin, 2 Whimbrel, 70 Curlew, 45 Redshank, 2 Green Sandpiper, 9 Common Sandpiper, 600 Black-headed Gull, 15 Swallow, 80+ Goldfinch and 55+ Linnet.

26th - The first returning Wheatear at Portbury Wharf today along with 5 Ringed Plover.

25th - A few signs of movement at Clevedon with 4 Mute Swan with 4 juvs, 25 Shelduck, 40 Mallard, 3 Grey Herons, 17 Little Egrets, a male Sparrowhawk, a Buzzard, 14 Oystercatchers, a single Ringed Plover, 1+ Lapwing, 15 Dunlin,  a Snipe, 4 Whimbrel, 35 Curlew, 55 Redshank, 2 Green Sandpiper, 10 Common Sandpiper, a GBB Gull, 2 Ravens and 35 Linnet.   It was quieter at Portbury Wharf with c100 Redshank, 2 Oystercatchers, 2 Lapwing, 5 Dunlin, a Curlew and a Common Sandpiper of note.  In the dock/River Avon area there were 3 Black-tailed Godwit, 80 Curlew, 3 Peregrines, a Turnstone, 150 Dunlin, a Whimbrel, 22 Ringed Plover and 3 Common Sandpipers.  An adult Med Gull was in Portishead Marina.

24th - A Hobby, 2 Barn Owls (4 young have fledged) and a Common Sandpiper reported from Portbury Wharf today.

22nd -  An early morning count at Portbury Wharf produced 110 Redshank, 2 Reed Warbler, 5 Whitethroat, a Blackcap, 5 Chiffchaff, 2 Bullfinch and 6 Reed Buntings.  At Clevedon there were 12 Canada Goose, 25 Shelduck, 30 Mallard, 4 Grey Heron, 18 Little Egret, 1 juvenile Buzzard, 4 Oystercatcher, 32 Lapwing, 55 Dunlin, a Whimbrel, 40 Curlew, 60 Redshank, single Green Sandpiper, 7 Common Sandpiper, 2 Turnstones (new in), 450 Black-headed Gull, a Great Black-backed Gull, 3 Swift, a Green Woodpecker, 6 House Martin, 2 Yellow Wagtail and 40+ Linnet

18th - The foreshore at Portbury Wharf (viewed from Portishead docks) had c10 Curlew, 5 Oystercatchers, 5 Redshank and a few Shelduck.  The only bird of note at Weston Moor was a Great Spotted Woodpecker. It is estimated that there are 8 Tufted Duck broods at Portbury Wharf this year.

17th - Inside the Royal Portbury Docks there were 7 Common Sandpipers, 60 Curlew, a Whimbrel, 10 Oystercatchers and a Black-tailed Godwit.  Portbury Wharf had a family group of Lesser Whitethroats,  2 Gadwall broods (6&9) 6 Little Grebe, an adult Little Ringed Plover, a Common Sandpiper, 6 Reed Warbler, 1 Sedge Warbler, 2 Blackcap and 2 Chiffchaff.

12th - In the Portbury Wharf/Portbury Docks area today there were 2 Common Sandpipers, 2 Whimbrel, 2 Black-tailed Godwits, 7Curlew, c40 Redshank, 35 Dunlin and 10 Oystercatchers.

11th - At Clevedon today there were 14 Mute Swan, 6 Shelduck (+ 18 young), 60 Mallard, a Little Grebe, 3 Cormorant, 3 Grey Heron, 4 Little Egret, single Buzzard, 10 Oystercatcher, 30 Lapwing, 34 Dunlin, a Whimbrel, c130 Curlew, 22 Redshank, a Green Sandpiper, 12 Common Sandpiper, 240 Black-headed Gull, 6+ Herring Gull, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 3 Great Black-backed Gull, 3 Stock Dove, 6 Swallow, 2 House Martin (town area), 2 singing Chiffchaff and 60 Linnet.

 

10th - At Portbury Wharf/Portbury Docks there were 20 Oystercatchers, c20 Dunlin, 5 Black-tailed Godwit, 61 Curlew, a Whimbrel and some Redshank.

8th - Little change at Clevedon with 2 Mute Swan, 18 Shelduck*, 80 Mallard, 2 Little Grebe, 4 Grey Heron, 8 Little Egret (Yeo Est), a Buzzard, a Kestrel, single juvenile Peregrine, 6 Oystercatcher, 42 Lapwing, 70 Curlew, only 5 Redshank, 4 Common Sandpiper, 120 Black-headed Gull, 10 Herring Gull, 6 Lesser black-backed Gull, 2 Swallows, 65 Linnet and a large flock of mixed Corvids (at least 120 Crow, 30 Jackdaw, 10 Rook).

4th - A trip just before high tide to Clevedon showed that it is still fairly quiet, highlights were a group of 6 Ravens, c25 Shelduck (broods of 15,6 & 4 seen), c40 Curlew, 8 Oystercatchers, 7 Redshank, a Common Sandpiper, 4 Little Egrets, 2 Peregrines, a Green Woodpecker, several Skylark and c40 Linnet.  Three summer plumage Black-tailed Godwit were at Portbury Wharf.

3rd - A Black-tailed Godwit was at Portbury Wharf.
