29th - At Clevedon there were 50 Shelduck, 5 Little Egrets, 12
Oystercatchers, 8 Ringed Plover, 6 Lapwing, 40 Dunlin , 6+ Whimbrel, 12 Curlew,
6 Redshank, 3Turnstones, a Wheatear, a Cetti's Warbler and 3 Lesser
Whitethroats.
22nd - Today over lunchtime at Clevedon there were 40 Shelduck, a Buzzard, 8+
Oystercatchers, 5 Ringed Plover, 6+ Lapwing, 7 Dunlin, 8 Whimbrel, 12 Curlew, 6+
Redshank, an immature GBB Gull, a Cuckoo (at Blake's Pools) and 2 Wheatears.
20th - Fairly quiet at the Clevedon Yeo this morning with 30+Shelduck,
5 Little Egret, 14 Oystercatchers, 14 Ringed Plover, 6 Lapwing, c20 Dunlin, 10
Whimbrel, 7 Curlew, 4+ Redshank, a Common Sandpiper, 8 Wheatears, a Cetti's
Warbler, a Peregrine and a Raven. A Red Kite was seen over the Hand
Stadium this evening. A Green Woodpecker was near the Police HQ at
Portishead. Just off patch a female Black Redstart was inside Royal
Portbury Docks.
17th - The Little Gull remained at the Clevedon Yeo today along with a
Kittiwake, 12 Ringed Plover, 2 Sanderling, 360 Dunlin (a good count for second
half of May), a Bar-tailed Godwit, 9 Whimbrel, 8 Curlew, 4 Turnstones and 2
Wheatears.
15th - A Honey Buzzard was seen well over Clevedon this evening by two local
birders looking at some moths! Sometimes good birds just land in your lap!
On the coast at Clevedon there were 60 Shelduck, 3 Little Egrets, 8+
Oystercatchers, 28 Ringed Plover, 6 Lapwing, a Knot, 2 Sanderling, 130 Dunlin, a
Bar-tailed Godwit, 15 Whimbrel, 3 Curlew, 2 Redshank, a Turnstone, a 1st summer
Little Gull, a Yellow Wagtail and 8 Wheatears.
14th - At Clevedon a Yellow Wagtail, 5 Wheatear and c100 Dunlin were seen.
13th - Wet, wet, wet! However some birding took place early morning and
this evening at Clevedon. This morning there were 35+ Shelduck, 3 Little
Egret, 10 Oystercatcher, 7+ Ringed Plover, c6 Lapwing, a Knot, 280 Dunlin (all
in breeding plumage), 17 Whimbrel, 8+ Redshank, a Turnstone, 3 Wheatears, a
Cetti's Warbler and 2 Lesser Whitethroats. An evening seawatch produced a
Great Skua a 2 Commic terns.
10th - Seawatching from Ladye Bay produced 31 Kittiwakes, a Pomarine
Skua, a pale phase Arctic Skua and a Skua sp this morning
8th - Good seawatching from Battery Point with a Diver sp (prob Black
Throated), 26+ Manx Shearwaters, 9+ Gannets, 22+ Fulmar, 18 Commic Terns, 2
Little Terns, 2 Arctic Skuas and 4 Purple Sandpipers on the rocks.
7th - Seawatching from Clevedon was productive this morning with 46 Gannets,
13 Manx Shearwaters, 15 Fulmars, a Sandwich Tern, a Razorbill, 12 Kittiwakes, 4
Arctic Terns, 46 Commic Terns and 2 Arctic Skuas.
6th - A distinct change in the weather today with a brisk SW wind this
morning. At Clevedon there were 14 Oystercatchers, 8 Lapwing, a Snipe, 8
Dunlin, a Bar-tailed Godwit, 42 Whimbrel, a Curlew, 4 Redshank, a Yellow Wagtail
and 2 Wheatears. Several Small Coppers were on the wing near Blakes
Pools.
4th - Four Purple Sandpipers are still at Battery Point, Portishead.
Seawatching from here produced 2 Whimbrel, one Arctic Tern and an Arctic Skua.
3rd - At Clevedon today there were 44+ Oystercatcher, 6+ Ringed Plover, 10
Lapwing, a Little Stint, 22 Dunlin, 68 Whimbrel, 25 Bar-tailed Godwit, 4 Curlew,
3 Redshank, a Common Sandpiper, 3 Turnstones, a Cuckoo, 3 Wheatears and a Yellow
Wagtail.
2nd - This morning 1000+ (mostly Common)Terns went up river between 07:30 and
09:30 along with 50+ Arctic Terns 12+ Sandwich Terns, a Little Tern, 2 Black
Terns and a great flock of 20+ Little Gulls. This evening 2-300 Terns were
lingering off Blackstone rocks, mostly Common but also a couple of Sandwich
Terns and Little Gulls.
1st - More seawatching today from Clevedon produced 2 Little Terns (second
summer birds), 66 Common Terns, 47 Arctic Terns, a Sandwich Tern, a Med Gull, a
pair of Tufted Ducks, a Kittiwake, a Diver sp and an Arctic Skua. A Little
Stint was a nice spring bird on the coast at Clevedon where there were also 2
Little Egrets, a Peregrine, 15 Oystercatchers, 5+ Ringed Plover, a Grey Plover,
6 Lapwing, 30+ Dunlin, 62 Bar-tailed Godwits, 48 Whimbrel, 4 Curlew, 3+
Redshank, a Greenshank, a Common Sandpiper, a Turnstone, 2 Swifts, 15+ Swallows,
8 Wheatears, a Cetti's Warbler, 5+ Reed Warblers, a Sedge Warbler and a Lesser
Whitethroat.
