30th - This morning at Clevedon there was a good selection with 9+ Little Egrets, 60+ Shelduck, 3 Wigeon, 2 Kestrels,  26 Oystercatchers, 12+ Ringed Plover, 10+ Knot, 2 Curlew Sandpipers, 160+ Dunlin 160, 4 Snipe, 21 Black-tailed Godwits, 50 Curlew, Redshank 95 (50 at Blackstone + 45 at Yeo), 4 Greenshank, Common Sandpiper,  36 Turnstone (34 at Blackstone, high tide) and 8 Wheatear.

26th - This morning at Clevedon ( low tide ) there were 5 Little Egrets, 5 Stonechats, 8 Black Tailed Godwits, 2 Grey Plover, 2 Turnstone, 10 Redshank, less than 10 Dunlin and no Ringed Plover.  c80 Shelduck, 15 Teal, Peregrine, Wheatear and a flock of 22 Skylark were noted.  Small numbers of Hirundines, Chaffinch's and Meadow Pipits migrated down the channel. 

       

25th  - This morning at Clevedon there were 10 Little Egrets, 9 Mute Swans, 12+ Wigeon,  40+ Teal,  2 Kestrel,  Stonechat,  4+ Wheatear, 100+ Goldfinch (Yeo Bank Farm), and the usual waders including a Grey Plover,  2 Knot,  12 Black-t Godwits, Bar-t Godwit, 50+ Redshank, Greenshank and 8 Turnstone.  In the Wains Hill/marsh area there were 5 Stonechats, a Wheatear, 2 juvenile Bullfinch's and numerous Willow Warblers/Chiffchaff's, Blackcaps and Goldcrests..  This evening there were 10 Whimbrel and 30 Dunlin/Ringed Plover at Clevedon.

24th - 3 Stonechats were at the Kenn Estuary and c10 Cormorants flew west from here.

23rd - A two hour seawatch over high tide from Ladye Bay produced a juvenille Hen Harrier, 1 Fulmar, 6 Kittiwakes, 1 Little Egret and 1 Pomarine Skua

A stranded Fin Whale was visible from Wains Hill, Clevedon this afternoon.  The whale is standed at the mouth of the River Usk at ST312828 and may well be visible tomorrow unless it moves away of the high tide which is very early on Friday morning.  The whale died sometime during the afternnoon.

22nd - Two hours of seawatching from Ladye Bay this afternoon in near gale force winds produced an adult Little Gull and a probable Pomarine Skua.  An attempted walk along the sea wall was abandoned due to the wind which made standing difficult, let alone birdwatching!

20th - Two hours seawatching this morning was only rewarded with 2 Manx Shearwaters.

19th - A showery and blustery morning at Clevedon still produced a good variety of birds.  A Ruff, 2 Curlew Sandpipers, 19 Black-Tailed Godwits, 100 Dunlin, 10 Ringed Plover, 2 Turnstone, 1 Whimbrel and c100 Curlew were the wader species seen on the sea wall and the mouth of the Yeo.  Also seen were 2 Little Egrets, 3 Wheatears, Stonechat, Peregrine, 2 Ravens, 30 Teal, c50 Shelduck and 2 Chiffchaffs.  A 1st Winter Grey Wagtail was on the Blind Yeo.  

17th - A couple of sessions of seawatching were productive today with 2 Great Skuas this morning and an adult Gannet and 2 Pomarine Skuas   ( one dark and one light phase ) this afternoon from Ladye Bay.

16th - At Clevedon today there were 7 Little Egrets, Buzzard, Sparrowhawk, Merlin, 26 Oystercatchers, 14 Ringed Plovers, 1 Lapwing, 11 Knot, 1 male Ruff (looked very large!), 1 Whimbrel, 15 Redshank, 1 Greenshank,  1 Turnstone and 8 Wheatears.  Some wildfowlers ensured that duck and curlew numbers were low.

14th - Once again seawatching from Clevedon was productive early this morning with a Balearic Shearwater, 2 Leach's Petrels, 11 Manx Shearwater, Great Skua, 3 Arctic Skuas and 3 Gannets reported between 07:00 and 08:40.

At the Clevedon Yeo there were c170 Dunlin, one Little Stint, one Curlew Sandpiper, 12 Black-Tailed Godwits, one Bar-Tailed Godwit.  15 Redshank and a Greylag Goose were on Blackstone rocks. 

PM - Seawatching, Clevedon - Another Balearic Shearwater, Pomarine Skua, 30 Manx Shearwaters, 20 Gannets, 5 Fulmars, Skua sp and a "commic" Tern.

13th - Seawatching was productive again today with 2 Pomarine Skuas, 8 Manx Shearwaters and 2 Great Skuas seen this morning from Ladye Bay and  4 Manx Shearwaters were seen this evening.

12th - PM - Seawatching from Ladye Bay was very productive this afternoon with a Storm Petrel, 5 Pomarine Skuas, 3 Manx Shearwaters and a Little Gull seen. 

AM - A very blustery and wet morning for birdwatching at Clevedon, however a Little Stint was still present on the sea wall along with c100 Dunlin and a few Ringed Plover.  At the mouth of the Yeo there were 14 Black Tailed Godwits, 12 Little Egrets, 3 Greenshank, 5 Redshank, Common Sandpiper, c60 Curlew, 30 Teal, 4 Wigeon and c50 Shelduck.  4 Wheatears were seen at various points on the sea wall and good numbers of Swallows tried their best to head back to Africa!  A brief seawatch was however, unproductive.

                     

11th - In the strong winds this evening, a Kittiwake, 6 Fulmars and 10 Gannets were seem during an hours seawatching from Ladye Bay, Clevedon. 

9th - The two Little Stints seen a few days ago were once again seen on the sea wall at Clevedon today, they seem to favour the small pools on the sea wall at the end of the lane from Channel View Farm.  Also seen were 2 Curlew Sandpipers, 5 Black Tailed Godwits, 10 Little Egrets, 150 Dunlin, 30 Ringed Plover and 50 Shelduck.

7th - This evening the Goldeneye was seen again at Weston Moor in the Gordano valley.

6th - Some good birds were seen away from Clevedon today with 2 Med Gulls in the area of Portishead Lake Grounds (with meditteranian weather to boot!) and a passing Peregrine.  On Weston Moor in the Gordano Valley there was a juvenile Goldeneye along with a Little Grebe. 

5th - The Little Stints could not be found this morning, there were however 400 Dunlin, 75 Ringed Plover, 4 Black Tailed Godwits, 5 Turnstone, 11 Little Egrets, c150 Curlew, 8 Wigeon and 2 Kingfishers on the coast.  In the lane from Channel View Farm 2 Spotted Flycatchers, Whinchat and 2 Lesser Whitethroats were seen.  Birds of prey seen were Hobby (hunting dragonflies at the mouth of the Yeo), 3 Buzzards and a Sparrowhawk.

4th - There were still 2 Little Stints on the sea wall at Clevedon today along with 2 Knot, 1 Bar-Tailed Godwit, c400 Dunlin, 50 - 60 Ringed Plover and 3 Little Egrets.

3rd - A good record of 3 Little Stints at Clevedon today (on the sea wall) along with 1 Sanderling, 75 Ringed Plover, c450 Dunlin and a Wheatear.

2nd - A good selection of waders at Clevedon today with the first Little Stint of the year seen, also seen were, 20 Oystercatcher, 90+ Ringed Plover, Lapwing , 17 Knot, 3 Sanderling, 350+ Dunlin, 3 Snipe, 2 Black-t Godwit , Whimbrel, 130+ Curlew, 5+ Redshank, 2 Greenshank, Green Sandpiper, 6+ Common Sandpipers and 4 Turnstone.

1st - At Clevedon today there were 2 juvenile Sanderlings, 2 Knot, c400 Dunlin, c100 Ringed Plover, 4 Yellow Wagtails flew over, Grey Wagtail, 1 Wheatear and a probable Hobby were seen.  3 Peregrines were seen circling over the Kenn Road area of Clevedon this evening.
